Audrey Rush is a Boynton Beach artist who works mainly in fused glass. She holds a Master’s Degree in education and has taught elementary school for over 25 years. While art wasn’t her primary subject, she loved teaching art to her students.

 

Audrey’s artistic journey began when she traveled to Barcelona, Spain, where she discovered and fell in love with the art and architecture of Antoni Gaudi. This sparked her interest in mosaics, and she began creating stone pavers, garden art and wall installations using many varieties of ceramic and porcelain tile.

 

During a trip to Murano, Italy, Audrey visited many glass factories where it ignited her passion for Murano Glass. She then began incorporating glass into her mosaic installations, along with natural stone, smalti, and vitreous tile.

 

After relocating to Phoenix, Arizona, Audrey studied mixed media art with renowned artist, Jacqui Ridley. Under Jacqui’s guidance, she learned to create exquisite wall art. Her pieces incorporating fabric, texture, and pattern as she began imbedding various materials such as beads, rhinestone chains, semi-precious stones, and vintage finds, adding depth and visual interest to her artwork.

 

Audrey has taken virtual courses from several well-known artists, expanding her skills and knowledge in Glass on Glass mosaics.

 

In 2022, after moving to Florida, she became a member of the Benzaiten Center for Creative Arts. The center’s mission of bringing art to a diverse range of children, teens, and supporting emerging artists resonated with her. Through the Benzaiten Center for Creative Arts, Audrey found inspiration and support as she ventured into a new art medium, glass fusing.

 

Audrey then joined Fused in Glass, a smaller and more intimate art studio, where she continues to create, receive advanced instruction and inspiration from the local owner and fellow artists.

 

Audrey’s artistic journey is a testament to her passion for learning and exploring new mediums. Her work in fused glass showcases her creativity and dedication to her craft.
